Brian is a first-rate service writer. He was honest, forthright, and never tried to sell me anything I didn't need. In fact, quite the opposite: His strategy is to save the customer money without compromising needed services, and to apprise the customer of options where there are some. As a first-time customer, I am already impressed. To press the point a bit: my issue had to do with air conditioning. These are systems on most cars that offer repair shops opportunities to milk the hell out of customers who don't know any better (particularly in July and August around here!). Brian insisted that the diagnostic phase would reveal most of what we needed, but perhaps not all, and that he would call to discuss before proceeding. As it turned out, the solution to my issue was surprisingly simple, and did NOT warrant a bunch of expensive diagnostics and remediation. They simply fixed the issue, advised me what we needed to do next to ensure that we'd made the right choices, and recommended some upcoming maintenance that could turn out to be important depending on future tests. THAT, my fellow vehicle-dependent citizens, is the MODEL of an honest repair shop. For my money, I have found my "guys" for the maintenance of my Toyota 4 Runner. In a crap-shoot industry (for the customer), MIA-MIJ is the kind of honest-broker that will continue to be successful because they're competent and honest.
