Update, the owner did contact me and refund me the fee to evaluate the problem. He was very professional however the cost was still significantly higher than the dealer. I recommend price shop. I change to two stars being he refunded me and his professionalism. I would not go higher in rating due to the estimate on the phone and almost double once I brought it. I had called Jack Dane to get estimate on the phone as I already knew what the problem was. The estimate was roughly 2K worst case but after paying $200 for them to tell me the same thing I already knew, their price to fix was $700 over then the dealership ($3800)plus the $200 evaluation fee. A far cry from the over the phone estimate. Needless to say, I didn't have them fix the car. Thank goodness I was only out the $200. I would never use them due to extremely high pricing and the bait and switch from phone to in person. I even told them the dealership was lower but not willing to negotiate either.
We are sorry for your experience. Most of the time we can beat the dealer's quote even with OE parts, by going through suppliers that have OE parts, but some jobs require us to source those parts through the dealer. In this particular case to supply an OE grade part we needed to purchase it from the dealer, it also required to be reprogrammed with the most recent update. Those two factors made our quote higher than the dealer as we had to go through them. Also when someone calls for a quote we stress that to give an accurate quote we need the vehicle to inspect it and have time to generate an accurate quote.
